Do you know…
Over 5,000 people die every year (in Scotland, England and Wales) as a result of diseases caused by exposure to asbestos.
Asbestos is an extremely emotive and dangerous carcinogen. Around 3,000 products used to be manufactured containing asbestos fibres and it was only finally banned in 1999.
Projected fatalities are set to peak in 2020, as a result of lack of awareness and lack of protection against its deadly effects. After the nuclear industry, it is the second-most regulated industry in the UK with good reason as asbestos is the single greatest cause of work-related deaths.
UKATA Accredited Training
Asbestos Building Surveys Ltd provides Category ‘A’ Asbestos Awareness Training, provision of which is audited and accredited by UKATA (the United Kingdom Asbestos Training Association).
Category ‘A’ signifies general asbestos awareness training, as stipulated in CAR 2012 (Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012).
These regulations and the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations are designed to protect you and your employees to ensure that you meet your duty of care in assessing risk in managing Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs). However, the new regulations ‘carry real teeth’ and failure to comply can have serious consequences, potentially leading to criminal prosecutions.
If you are in any doubt whether you are currently meeting your employer's duty of care in compliance with the prevailing regulations, please feel free to just #askABS. Safety is paramount and it is better to ask and be safe than not ask and be sorry!
We can tailor training sessions to your requirements, depending on the type of work you or your organisation undertakes. In general, the course is geared towards sub-contractors and small works trades. The awareness training course delivers a basic introduction to where asbestos materials are found and equips delegates to enable them to work safely and prevent any unnecessary exposure to asbestos fibres.
